We’re bringing back the Lake Powell Challenge to beautiful Lake Powell, on the water in 2010! All of us are very excited to have an opportunity to be the host of this great charity event right on the lake. As you know, September is the right time of year to be on Lake Powell with all of your friends and family. The water temperature is perfect, the days are long and we are hosting a wonderful charity event. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, our highlight partner, is ready to help us to bring the fun back to Antelope Point Marina.
In 2009, The Lake Powell Challenge raised $9500 to help benefit the three charities listed above. We had an awesome poker run across the Navajo Reservation and the winner, Kent Evans, took away 2 VIP Passes to The Barret Jackson Car Show in Scottsdale, AZ. All prizes and auction items were generously donated by caring folks like yourself. Vendors helped chip in to keep food, t-shirt and live music costs low so that we could pass along all the proceeds directly to the charities to benefit 100% from your kind donations.
In 2010, we are moving from the street to the water. This time, bring, borrow or rent a boat. It’s all by boat! We’re doing “a lap around the island”, Antelope Island to be specific. The plan is to have 3 “pick up spots”, on the water, for you, your family and friends to grab a charity card and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of Lake Powell. Each boat will only pay for one entry fee no matter how many people are on the boat. The fee is $50 and this goes directly to our handpicked charities. The “best hand” at the end of the day wins 2 VIP passes to the Barret-Jackson Car Show in Scottsdale.

To kick off the day, we will have a breakfast buffet along with a meet and greet right on the water at our spectacular marina village. Box lunches will be available as well as our full service market place will be stocked and open for all of your “day on the lake” necessities. Later that night, the marina village will host a live auction with a professional auctioneer and live music to round out the night. Back by popular demand, another huge Pacific Snow Crab boil with all the trimmings including our famous twice-baked potatoes and homemade desserts are on the menu.
Yes, we need volunteers. Yes, we need donations for the auction. Yes, we will take cash donations. Our website, lakepowellchallenge.com, is set up just like last year to sign up early and receive a $5 discount. Last year, we auctioned off everything in the house. Quilts, ski passes, Pilates, Sunrise Peaks donated a houseboat share, Forever Resorts donated week long stays on brand new houseboats, Windham weekend getaways, University of Utah autographed football by the entire undefeated team, Antelope Point Valet passes, market place gift vouchers, free rent in the Dry Storage facility, Barret Jackson VIP passes, local hotel overnight giveaways and much much more.
